Website SEO Review
Onsite SEO review o General site de-bug, checking for broken links
o Site structure and text links
o Keywords and descriptions being present and correct
o Google Page Rank page distribution
The onsite review is important, because good SEO starts with ensuring there is nothing on your site that will hinder the search engines finding
and ranking your site. Things like missing keywords or duplicate descriptions can cause problems, meaning no matter how much money you throw at
your site, you’ll never get those 1st page rankings. The site review usually shows the basics are there, but there may be a small amount of
modifications required.
Offsite Review o Current back links – number, quality and page distribution
o Current ranking in Google, Yahoo and MSN/live
This is the most important factor determining your websites rank in the search engines. Backlinks, both quality and quantity are essential to
gaining a strong position in the search engines. If you have lots of links pointing to your site, the search engines will recognise the
popularity of your particular site and will raise the page ranking. There is obviously far more to it than that of course, but that’s basically
how it works.
Keyword research – what are people searching for in relation to your business, and how often
I will look at the commonly searched words and terms that people will use to find your site. I use a variety of tools to achieve this, and I can
generate a list of words to target your site to from this.
Keyword competition – who and how many other sites are competing for the 1st page
Now I take the words and terms from the research, and search for them in Google. I note the amount of competing pages in various ways, and the
strength of the pages on the first page of results. Once I have the amount of searches for a term, and how much competition there is for it, I
can create a list of keywords to use on your site that you have the best chance of ranking on the first page for.
From the above, I can generate a pretty solid plan of what your site can achieve in the Search Engine Ranks, how long it will take to get there,
and importantly, how much it will cost. The site review will also show up any direct competitors, and I will be able to discuss what it will take
to beat them specifically. The good thing about the internet is that you may have less choice, a worse location or any other ‘disadvantage’ to
your competitors, but if you are above them in the search engines, you can win the business regardless!
